Welcome - Bewillkumme

The Kutztown Area Historical Society is a group of members and volunteers who are dedicated to preserving the artifacts and cultural history of Kutztown. We are grouped into several committees, each lead by a board member, and each focusing on a different aspect of the preservation. Through the generous donations of numerous individuals and business over the years, we have been able to create a museum to showcase some of the artifacts of our past. In addition to tours of the building, we also offer educational and entertaining events throughout the year for visitors to learn more about the area and the Society. We invite you to explore our site to reveal all that we offer and read about the many benefits to a lifetime Historical Society membership.

International Pen Pal Program Registration

Welcome to the International Pen Pal Program between Kutztown, PA and Altrip, Germany! This program, created by the Kutztown Community Library, is a collaboration with the borough of Kutztown and Mayor Jim Schegel, the Kutztown Area Historical Society, and the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center. Even though we are almost 4,000 miles apart and can't travel right now, we can explore each other's towns and countries. At your own pace, you can write to your pen pal using our recommended question prompts, or choose your own topics.

Participants will drop off completed letters (no need to stamp) at the library to be mailed together to protect privacy. If you'd like and both participants are willing, you can email your pen pal instead. Small, light gifts that fit inside an envelope can be sent as well. Filling out this form completes your registration. You will receive your pen pal assignment via email. An optional pen pal kit will soon be available for $5. It includes letter writing supplies, stickers, conversation prompts, and other fun things. Happy writing!
